Ruth Miyamoto
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Ruth Miyamoto found music and craftsmanship at an early age. She pursued cello performance at the University of Massachusetts, mentored by the renowned Astrid Schween. Following her undergraduate degree, Ruth's journey led her to Minnesota State College Southeast, where she achieved her Violin Repair Diploma. At Minnesota State College Southeast, Ruth's dedication and talent shone brightly. She stood out as the sole recipient of the prestigious Lisle Violin Scholarship, a testament to her meticulous work and commitment. This scholarship covered her full tuition. Ruth's professional journey as a luthier unfolded first in Connecticut and then in the heart of New York City where she apprenticed at Reed-Yeboah Fine Violins. There, she further honed her craft under the guidance of Julie Reed-Yeboah and Kenichi Matano. Now, Ruth has come full circle, returning to her roots in Honolulu and founding RNM Violins. Her business reflects her dedication to preserving and enhancing the beauty of instruments and her heart for helping the community that raised her.
